Keeping Up With the Ever Changing Style of Denim

Ok, I first need to say that no matter who says it is stylish to pair denim with denim, I will never go there. I suppose it is left over from some point in my life when I wore a light blue denim shirt with some dark blue denim skirt and got mocked for it. Whatever the reason, it is just not for me and I do not promote it.

That said, I love denim, and think it is a very special material that is not only best served casual. Nope, it can be worked into a more dressy adaptation, and screams personality. My all time favorite way of wearing denim is in a distressed dark jacket paired with a long flowing formal skirt and a boat neck long sleeved tee.

I can remember the first time I saw it styled this way on Marisa Tomei.  I believe she was the star in an ad for jockey undies, and they were promoting tees with them. She oozed confidence, and I never forgot how strong she came across though she was in a playful outfit.

My second go to look with denim is to insert pieces that are not often seen in denim. Thins like denim platforms, bangles, raincoats, and belts al do a lovely job of setting of an outfit like the fourth of July. My point is this, in case I have not yet made myself clear, denim trends change so rapidly it is hard to stay on top of them. So, choose your own style, and do it boldly. For denim itself is always in style, and it yours for the making.
